Liang Junheng: get rid of prejudice, live calmly
Liang Junheng is self-confident, rebellious, challenging authority, pragmatic and enterprising, open and compatible. He has the most obvious characteristics of Hong Kong Youth. It seems contradictory, but it's like two sides of a coin.
Graduated from university in 2012, Liang Junheng returned to Hong Kong from the United States and worked as a clerk in a precious metal company. Excluding normal expenses, he had little pocket money left every month. In his pocket, he declined all the parties of his friends and had few recreational activities. Liang Junheng lived like this for two years.
Liang Junheng, in fact, was born in well-off family. His father Liang Qingtang invested in industrial real estate in the mainland as early as 1990 and set up mould and hardware companies in Shenzhen and Huizhou. Liang Junheng has no worries about food and clothing. But in Liang Junheng's view, relying on protection of ancestors and father is a sign of no promise; To inherit his father's career also means there is no other methods. “One day, when I found that I had only a few tens of yuan left in my pocket, I was at a loss at that moment,” Liang said. The company was lack of a favorable promotion mechanism, and there is not much room for growth. I don’t know how long it will take to get ahead, how long will it take to live a frugal life? When can I buy a house on my own?” Liang Junheng's questioning reveals the voice of a new generation of young people in Hong Kong.
Trees are moved to die while people move to live. As it is hard to live in Hong Kong, so go back to the mainland.” Father’s words made Liang Junheng make up his mind.
Lnce went to Shenzhen with his father, which made him unforgettable. Starting from home early in the morning and arriving at Songgang in Bao’an at noon, iving abroad for more than ten years, the mainland is a distant existence for Liang Junheng. When he was a teenager, Liang Junheng ohe couldn’t understand why the traffic between Hong Kong and Shenzhen was so inconvenient because they were just separated by a river? Why were the customs clearance procedures so complicated? However, after deciding to work in Huizhou in 2014, Liang Junheng looked at the mainland as an adult for the first time. He suddenly found that everything had changed, “especially in Shenzhen where there are lots of high-rise buildings and heavy traffic on the street. A prosperous city!” From then on, his passion for his career really surged in his heart, and he believed that his choice was right.
What surprised Liang Junheng most was the progress of science and technology. After returning to the mainland, he found that China’s mobile Internet applications have been in a leading position in many fields, especially mobile payment. “In Hong Kong, it is enough for me to take an octopus card when I go out, which can be used for payment in fast food restaurants, convenience stores, supermarkets, buses and so on. But the mainland is more advanced in mobile payment. You don’t need to take any card, and a mobile phone is sufficient.” There are many restrictions on Hong Kong version of Wechat wallet, without Wechat red packet, Wechat payment and Wechat transfer.
When Liang Junheng told his friends in Hong Kong about his new discovery in the mainland, he was laughed at. So he invited his friends to Shenzhen and Huizhou for sightseeing. The scenery and experience along the way surprised them. “They represent the views of some young people in Hong Kong” , said Liang Junheng. Many young people in Hong Kong have a natural sense of superiority. It is because of this that they become complacent and out of touch with the overall development environment of the mainland.
Having been in the mainland for a long time, Liang Junheng was a little uncomfortable when he returned to Hong Kong. “Everyone in Hong Kong is under too much pressure and very upset, while life in the mainland is more relaxed”. Young people need a circle. Liang Junheng didn’t keep close contact with friends in Hong Kong while he suddenly got closer to friends in mainland. Coming to the mainland for work, a door to a new life is opened for Liang Junheng. The most discussed topic with his friends is what project is most promising, where there is better business environment and what supporting policies are available.
The mainland is so attractive that Liang Junheng and his friends hope to take root.
